Published: 2026-08-29 Tags: release npm patch

NextClaw v0.45.3 fixes an issue where upgraded installations could stop an Agent run after 20 tool calls. Long-running tasks that need many consecutive tools now continue without being affected by a historical value in the local configuration file.

Fixes

  • Long tool chains no longer stop at a legacy value: A retained limit of 20 in an older configuration no longer affects Agent runs. Native NextClaw Agents now use a fixed safety budget of 1,000 tool calls.
  • Obsolete configuration controls are removed: The tool-call limit is no longer shown or returned by Settings, Agent details, or the configuration API, so users are not offered a runtime protection value that should not be instance-configurable.
  • Protection remains for extreme runs: NextClaw still stops the run with a clear error if it reaches the fixed safety budget, preventing an abnormal tool loop from consuming resources indefinitely.

What you need to do

Update to v0.45.3 and restart NextClaw. You do not need to migrate the configuration or remove the old field manually; the updated runtime ignores historical values automatically.
